Google Play screenshot sizes (2026)

What Google Play accepts for phone and tablet screenshots and the feature graphic, what it takes to be eligible for recommendations, and the format rules — from Google’s Play Console Help, last checked on October 13, 2026.

The short answer

  • Phone: 1080 × 1920 (9:16). Any size works if each side is 320–3840 px and the long side is at most twice the short one — but 9:16 at 1080 px or more is what recommendations need.
  • Feature graphic: 1024 × 500 — required to publish a listing.
  • Format: JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no alpha.
  • How many: up to 8 per device type; at least 4 phone screenshots (3 for games) to be eligible for recommendations.

Google recommends keeping the key elements central and clear of the edges, avoiding pure white, black or dark grey backgrounds, and leaving out store badges, ranking or price words and device imagery. These are recommendations, not upload rules.

Rules every screenshot must meet

  • Each side between 320 and 3840 px, and the long side no more than twice the short side. This rules out current iPhone screenshots, which are about 2.17 times taller than wide.
  • JPEG or 24-bit PNG, no alpha.
  • Up to 8 per device type. A listing needs at least two screenshots to publish.
  • Google’s metadata policy forbids ranking and award claims (“#1”, “Best of Play”), prices and promotions, and other stores’ badges. It also recommends against device frames and calls to action, and taglines covering more than a fifth of the image.

Questions

What size should Google Play phone screenshots be?

Any size with each side between 320 and 3840 pixels and the long side no more than twice the short side. To be eligible for recommendations, Google asks apps for at least four 9:16 screenshots of at least 1080 × 1920 (games: three), so 1080 × 1920 is the safe choice.

Can I upload my iPhone screenshots to Google Play?

Usually not: current iPhone screenshots, such as 1206 × 2622, are more than twice as tall as they are wide, which Google Play refuses. Make a 9:16 set for Android instead.

Is the feature graphic required?

Yes. Google Play needs a 1024 × 500 feature graphic, as a JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no alpha, before a store listing can be published. Keep the important parts away from the edges and avoid store badges and ranking words.

Do PNG screenshots need to be 24-bit?

Yes. Google Play accepts JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no alpha channel. Screenshot Studio exports exactly that.

What goes in the tablet slots?

Google asks for 9:16 or 16:9 screenshots for 7-inch and 10-inch tablets and Chromebooks. One set at 1440 × 2560 can be uploaded to both tablet slots.
